Welcome to Science for the Gardener – a website designed to be different – to be fun and lighthearted – to be easy to understand – but above all to be informative. Let me share with you my passion for gardening and my sincere belief that a little science knowledge can go a very long way in helping us to understand what is going on in our gardens and what steps we can take to improve them.


It is aimed at the layman gardener, young or old, someone in a garden club, an allotment holder or simply anyone wishing to find out more about how and why their garden grows. Featuring guest articles, short editorials and interesting titbits, an Education and Careers page dedicated to Young gardeners and Horticulturists and a Resources page for those of you who want to dig deeper into the subject. I do hope you will return to the site on a regular basis.
